Ammo report
Just got home from Fleet Farm. We were there for other things, but I remembered that they had some ammo for sale. Went to grab some target loads for me (remember, I am still a beginner), and they were out of the ones I needed and a whole lot more. I ended up with a few boxes, but the shelves were getting bare. I asked for a raincheck. He said that there were none on order. The last order they received was twice what they normally get and it is getting hard for them to buy. Thought I would just throw this out there... I knew it was going to get harder to get... just didn't expect it quite so soon!

Re: Ammo report
We seem to be getting a lot of these reports of ammo shortages....I don't know if it is regular pre-election anticipation (of a Dem-controlled government), or an indication of alarming future problems.

Re: Ammo report
While on vacation in Indiana last week, I stopped in the largest gunstore ( or at least thats what I was told) The Firearms were more exspensive than here in Va. I bought a box (50 rounds) of 45 colt, 250 gr LRN for 30 bucks! That was the cheapest they had.

The guy with reloading equipment, powder, primers and bullets is gonna be a handy fellow down the road.

Re: Ammo report
I know a few who are already stocking up. Worrying about those first 100 days of Obama with a fully Democrat Senate and house. Gun laws could change drastically

Re: Ammo report

Re: Ammo report
The gun show today was packed. Overheard dealer telling customer no negotiating on AK's cause they can't replace them. Ammo and accessories expensive. Lots of various cal ammo except 22LR :hissyfit_m:

CTD are a bunch of @$$holes I saw them raise the price on 9mm ammo 2 twice in the course of 3 weeks. Anybody comes in with a brochure trying to buy at those prices is given instructions on how to properly pound sand. T |

Re: Ammo report
There is no law forcing someone to buy from CTD. If people are willing to pay those prices, CTD will not lower their prices. If people stop buying from CTD and look to alternate vendors, CTD will lower their prices.
I still see many sellers who haven't "jacked" their prices yet. There have been some increases, sure, but not outrageous. |
Re: Ammo report
Stupid law of supply and demand.
Don't worry, you'll soon live in a land where capitalism is forbidden. |
Re: Ammo report
Stopped by one of my local GS in search of 7.62 2 weeks ago they were selling 20 rnd. boxes of American Eagle Brass cased $6 OTD. Picked up xxx boxes and hit the door w/ a big smile on my face. 6 Bucks for Brass Cased Stuff was O.K. by me. Jump forward to the Friday after Election Day, $ 17.99 a effin box...!!! Fortunatly, I have a local Pawn/Gun Shop that sells me whatever they have at the time and they don't Gouge the crap out of me...It pays to have a good relationship w/ your local pusher...!!! VD51

Thats dam near 68% price hike how the ^#@&^% IS THAT NOT GOUGING?? T |
Re: Ammo report
ammoman.com has gone from $199 for 1k of 7.62x39 to $249 in 2 weeks.
I guess he can sit on it, I'm not buying. Considering the drop in commodity prices and the plunge in overseas shipping prices this stuff should be getting cheaper. |

elroy, No offense, but when the TAX on this item is 500% you will wish you had stocked up back in the 'good old days', which are right now. Get it now or forget it. You will shortly NO LONGER be able to get any ammo without paying a literal arm AND a leg. Just sayin... |

He speaks the truth........ they wont out right ban semi autos but they will make so dam cost prohibative it will drive you up the wall. And because the economy is in the doldrums they will use that as back drop. for the price hikes kind of like a luxury tax on smokes. Chris Rock gave us the format years ago :) [/B] |
Re: Ammo report
Everyone always bad mouths Wal Mart regarding their purchases from off shore (read that China) and their gun and ammo policies, but I was in today and they had DROPPED the price of their Blazer Brass in 45ACP from $14.98 to $13.98/box of 50 rounds. While this is not the latest and greatest, hi performance, triple conical shaped (I made that up), hollow point ammo; it is brass cased, re-loadable, and produced by a reputable American based company.

Re: Ammo report
mnfarmer: what Fleet Farm do you go to? Fleet Farm has been stocking less and less ammo and guns over the last few years. They used to carry AKM's, Lee-Enfeilds, Mausers, Mosin's and a few others. You will be hard pressed to even find more than a few Mosin's from them now. I used to buy tin's of surplus Bulagrian 7.62x54R, I haven't seen any of that at FF for over a year.
People are in panic mode now, it happens every election cycle. Anyone complaining about ammo prices now, should have been stocking up a long time ago. It's not like it was a suprise who was going to win this election and when the election was. But I must admit, this election cycle has got me more nervious than others. Even if you can't find what you want in bulk, pick up what ever you can. You all also have to remember how much ammo has went up over the last 2-3 years, Wolf has went from $1.99 a box to almost $6 a box. Ammo is just like PM's, it's not so much ammo is going up as much as the dollar is tanking. When it comes to hording ammo, I have a simple forumula...When I buy ammo, half is for times like this and the other half is for shooting. I never dip into my ammo stash, I keep my shooting ammo seperate. Luckily I'm pretty good with most of my ammo, but I'm lagging on 22LR the most. But I will take care of that this week. |

Re: Ammo report
Here's one for you from this weeks Dicks Sporting Goods Ad:
http://dickssportinggoods.shoplocal....d%3dDSG-081108 I went to the store today (one with a Bass Pro Shop across the street) and they were $2.98 / box instead of the $3.98 in the ad. Use the infamous Coaches Gift card (just Google Dicks Sporting Goods Coaches Certificate) for $10.00 off a $25.00 sale, after tax and after the mail in rebate you will get 9 five round boxes of of shotgun ammo for $0.18, works out to .004 cents per round! If you have to pay the $3.98 price per five round box, it will work out to be less than .22 cents per round, not bad but not as good as $.004! If someone comes up with a better one than this, please post it! http://forums.slickdeals.net/showthread.php?t=754368 |
